WELLINGTON Nominations for the 2008 Delargey Awards which will be presented at World Youth Day in Sydney in July are being sought by the National Council for Young Catholics. The awards, given every second year, recognise significant and outstanding contributions made in the field of Catholic youth ministry. They are named in honour of the late Cardinal Reginald Delargey.

The awards aim to recognise workers and supporters of youth ministry; educate the community about ministry with young people; and raise the profile of Catholic youth ministry.

Nominations for the 2008 awards should be made by February 29. They should indicate that the person nominated has made a significant contribution in one of these areas of youth ministry: Advocacy, catechesis, community life, evangelisation, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care or prayer and worship.
