The Marian Centre Catholic preschool in Panmure has celebrated its 20th birthday with a Mass concelebrated by Bishop Denis Browne and five other priests, including the recently ordained Fr Martin Wu.

Fr Wu told the congregation in St Patrick’s Church, Panmure, that he had, as a teenager, been involved with selling hot soup to help raise funds for the establishment of the preschool in 1999.

During the Mass, past children and even a current boy prayed the Prayers of the Faithful.

Children were also involved in the taking up of the Offertory gifts.

After the Mass, everyone was welcomed into the Marian Centre for the cutting of the birthday cake and lunch. The afternoon continued with fun and games for the children.

The centre has been an important part of the lives of many children and families, both Catholic and from the wider community. Many of the children have now left college and university, and there has even been a second-generation child.
