AUCKLAND — The fifth Voice for Life National Pro-Life Songwriting Contest will be held in Auckland in November, organiser Don Brebner has announced.
Mr Brebner said that after the first contest, in Tauranga in 2008, Christian groups and organisations such as Right to Life, Family First and Pro-Life NZ offered to support the contest by promoting it to their members.
“Subsequently, the 2009-2011 contests featured two categories, ‘College’ and ‘Open’, and took the total of entrants to 160.”

The winner of the 2011 Pro-Life Songwriting Contest open category, Rachel Schryvers of Auckland.
Mr Brebner said entrants must submit original songs themed in some way to “respect for life” — which can be at all ages and stages from conception to natural death, and beyond, if honouring the dead.
Publicity, using electronic media, now goes out to every college in the country, and to churches of many denominations.
Attractive cash prizes and free passes to the “Parachute” festival are a drawcard.
