There is just over a week to go for Young New Zealanders take up the chance to be part of an international conversation with the Catholic Church.The New Zealand Catholic Bishops have been asking those aged 16 to 29 years to share their views about life, faith, and their experience of Church through an online survey. Isabella McCafferty, member of the National Youth Council says they’re delighted with the number taking part, with well over 1400 responses to date. “It’s really heartening to see so many who want to be involved and have their say.”
The survey will contribute to a worldwide initiative by Pope Francis to better understand the lives, attitudes and concerns of young people around the world, in the lead up to the Synod on Young people, faith and vocational discernment in Rome, October 2018.
Hamilton Bishop Steve Lowe says “this is a wonderful opportunity for young New Zealanders to have their voice heard on what matters to them in their lives, their faith and how they feel about the Church.”
New Zealanders aged 16 – 29 years old are encouraged to answer the survey individually or in groups, and to tell their friends about it and share the link with their networks. The survey will close at midnight on 27 August 2017.
