St Bede’s old boys to fore at Niue opening

Five St Bede’s College (Christchurch) old boys were at a ceremony for the official opening of the conference centre and hotel extension of the Matavai Hotel in Niue by Prime Minister Bill English on June 16.
The St Bedes old boys (1967-1973) present were Gerry Brownlee, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Peter Dunne, Minister of Internal Affairs; Mark Blumsky, Former Mayor of Wellington and now a Niue resident; Ian Fitzgerald, Chairman of Matavai Resort; and Tino Pereira, chairman of the Pacific Business Trust.

More than 20,000 Niueans live in New Zealand while 1600 live on Niue. The Matavai Resort has been funded by the New Zealand Government to encourage tourism and employment on Niue.
