Parishioners attended from St Joseph’s, Dannevirke, St Brigid’s, Pahiatua, St Columbkille’s, Woodville, Sacred Heart, Eketahuna, and from St Joseph’s and St Anthony’s Schools.
Deacon Buenger, who had worked as an international flight attendant and a secondary school teacher, came from the United States to New Zealand in July 2005 and had a strong sense that this country was where he needed to be.
On July 4 this year Deacon Buenger is scheduled to be ordained to the priesthood at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Palmerston North (a suitable date, as it is Independence Day in the United
States).
