WAITARUKE, Northland — A powhiri welcomed new principal Makere Karatea and new teacher Whetu Maunsell to Hato Hohepa te Kamura school in Waitaruke in February.
In her mihi, Mrs Karatea said: “E te Atua, te matou Matua
atawhai rawa, e mihi ana matou ki a koe. Nau i homai ki a matou
nga taonga nunui o te whakapono, o te tumanako, o te aroha
hei arataki i a matou.
“Thank you to all whanau who attended the wonderful powhiri held at Waitaruke on Tuesday February 14. It was an uplifting occasion for all new students and new staff members and their families. My sincerest thanks to all our kaumatua who tirelessly support our kura
whanau.
“E aku nui, e aku rahi. Nga uri o nga pae maunga nei ra te reo
mihi e rarere atu nei ki a koutou, tena koutou, tena koutou, tena
