Long-serving contributor dies

by PETER GRACE
PALMERSTON NORTH— NZ Catholic contributor Marjorie Dawson of Palmerston North died on March 30, after a lengthy battle with ill health.
Mrs Dawson wrote many news and feature articles for NZ Catholic over many years, with her final contribution published on February 23 this year — an article about the commissioning of 11 prayer guides for the diocese.
February 23 was also the day when her family, friends and her parish family of St Mary’s, Palmerston North, celebrated with her
and her husband Denis their ruby wedding anniversary, and they received a special blessing from parish priest Fr Marcus Francis, and were presented with a framed papal blessing from Pope
Francis.
The papal blessing was a surprise arranged by the couple’s four children.
Mrs Dawson died peacefully at Arohanui Hospice, with her husband by her side. She was interred at Ashhurst Cemetery.
May she rest in peace.
