AUCKLAND — After a pilot event last year, Catholic Young Professionals are now running monthly events in the city.
One of the organisers, Rosjier Hall, told NZ Catholic at the third event on March 12, that about 40 people turned up for the pilot event, and about 50 for the second event, on February 12.
The speaker at the second meeting, on February 12, was Mark Stolten, the Chief Operating Officer of Buckley Systems Ltd.
Mr Hall said Adele Lobo was the inspiration behind Catholic Young
Professionals (CYP). She explained that God, “kind of made me do it”.
Mr Hall said Ms Lobo told a few friends about her idea, “and then we brought some people we knew would be good for a planning team and sat down and had four or five meetings for the first event”.
The March event began at 6.30pm with socialising and canapes, before a speaker at 7pm. About 6.45, Ms Lobo, Mr Hall and another young woman disappeared briefly to pray with the speaker, , before he gave his talk.
There is no charge to attend CYP.
Mr Hall said that he and a few others cover the cost of each event out of their own pockets.
