DUNEDIN — Pope Benedict XVI has conferred the title of Chaplain of Honour on Fr John Harrison, meaning he will be known as “Monsignor”.
Msgr Harrison, who is parish priest of St Joseph’s Cathedral parish in Dunedin, is also chancellor of the diocese.
He also heads the Dunedin office of the Tribunal of the Catholic Church for New Zealand.

The Bishop of Dunedin, Bishop Colin Campbell, announced Msgr Harrison’s new title in the June issue of the diocesan publication The Tablet.
In the same issue, Bishop Campbell also announced the new vicar general for Dunedin diocese is Fr Paul Mahoney, who is parish priest of Cromwell and Upper Clutha.
Fr Mahoney, who takes over as vicar general from Msgr Vincent Walker, has been a member of the Dunedin diocese College of Consultors and Priests’ Council for several years.
