We were promised a life lived for God will be full of challenges (Psalm 34:19). Nice to read of people who take on those challenges bravely. God bless

Paul 6 in Humanae Vitae recommended that families practice Responsible Parenthood.

Just what that means, each family will have to decide for themselves. Some parents are better equiped to handle a large family than others. And parents need to use the virtue of prudence in deciding how many children they can feed. and care for, and pay for the education they need in today’s world.

God bless all families for whatever they decision they make.

What a great witness you both are to the truth. That all husbands and wives would be so willing to accept the children sent to them by God. And as for the stupid, brainwashed people’s mantras: there are nine times the number of polar bears that there were in the 1940s, and people are good for the wellbeing of society, as well as the physical environment. And who’s going to pay for and look after those people who contracepted and killed their children in utero, when they are old? Why, your children and the children of other parents who did the good and natural thing by not perverting the purpose of their marriages. God bless you and your family. And thank you!!

Yes it is not 100% effective it actually 98% effective in over 1000 clinical trials. The adverse reaction to chemical conception is so harmful and unnatural to the body. The levels of estrogen in itself is considered a carcinogen. The pill also tricks the female body into believes it is prengant. Condoms are not full proof and are tested when a women is considered infertile, which is actually only 100 hours in her cycle. The fail rate of condoms is at 30% and the back up plan is abortion. The couple mentioned how they lax in charting which lead to the pregnancy. So actually if they had more discipline then they would not have achieved the pregnancy, but they are so happy about their lax. NFP teaches self control, and respect for the woman cause she is not a tool to use for self pleasure. She is to be respected and gives you a deeper meaning for sexual intimacy.

Paul 6 advised Parents to use the virtue of Prudence and be Responsible Parents.

What that prudential judgement is, is for the parents to decide. Michael and Rebecca went through their own process and came up with their own solution, which is as it should be.

In approving of Natural Family Planning, though, Pope Paul 6 seems to have done more than he realized. For the first time the Church recognized that our knowledge of human biology has advanced to where we recognize that it is the “natural law” for humans that a woman is open to conception, and so to the “transmission of life”, only during a few days of her monthly cycle.

Couples are even encouraged to engage in sex during sterile times, when they have carefully planned for, and have the full intention, that the particular sexual act will NOT result in conception nor the transmission of life.

That seems to negate the very reason Paul 6 gives for forbidding “artificial” methods of birth control.

If being “open to life” merely means that they accept a pregnancy in event there is an error, then ANY method of birth control could qualify, for no method is absolutely 150% certain.

If we actually read and think about Humanae Vitae, we will find that the Encylical is quite revolutionary, even beyond the encouragement of practicing Responsible Parenthood. The means of achieving that goal are also opened up beyond his initial disapproval of anything but “natural” birth control. Which, as the Loretz family illustrates, is rather prone to failure.
