Knockabout Pacific humour thrives on stereotypes and having fun. This doesn’t translate easily to the big screen. But Sione’s Wedding was a hit and the gang is back in this sequel (South Pacific Pictures) that demonstrates they have moved on only so far in their lives. Their self-styled leader, Albert (Oscar Kightley), has moved on most with married life on the North Shore. Michael (Robbie Magasiva) has gone further, bringing in an Australia connection that adds even more ethnic stereotypes. The story unfolds quickly, although most of the situations show little originally and stretch an already thin script. But the sequel is full of heart and audiences are forgiving when seeing their “own” enjoying themselves and facing a few home truths as well. Mature audiences, (contains sex scenes and offensive language), 92 minutes. — Nevil Gibson.
